TroubleShooting

Here you will find some solutions for the most common problems.

First, in my opinion, Maps Offline is very easy to use. Most should be very self explaining.

If you still dont understand sth. look at this Page.

Bug:

In 0.6 he says somtetimes that the file coulnt be copied. Thats not right everytime. Just compare filesizes, whther the file has been copied.

I Cant See Anything in Maps.app(Cache):

Restoring a Cache is quite simple. You just copy your saved file to MapTiles.sqlitedb.

When you cant see anything, then be sure that you have been copying. So if you restore a big file, and its too fast, he havent copied the file. Thats mostly a problem of incorrect Properties. It basicly does the cp command in the shell. Try to change permission on MapTiles.sqlitedb and all files and folders in ~Library/MapsOffline to 777.

If Restoring is stil too fast, then check if you have proper file names. As Using the cp command you cant use space and special letters.

If Restoring had taken some time, you can be sure, that the file has been copied.

Still Cant see Anything, then its a problem of point of view. Maps.app always remembers the last position, zoomlevel and Mode. Try to adjust them. Place a Bookmark on the Cache, so that you can choose offline it. Then you can be sure that you are in right Position. Zoomout and zoom in. Or just change between Maps, Satelite and Hybrid.

Note to 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 Users:

As Maps.app wasnt that far as in 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 there are a few limitations for you:

  • You cant use Offline Street Search, because you dont have Bookmarks.plists.
  • You cant Use Hybrid Mode.
