Here's the Guide how to create Offline Street Search Files:

First you shuold thsnk openstreetmap.org for this. Its an open source project so that we can use geodata for free. Look at their site and support them:

What you have to Do is, to Download your Area, my script will then extrait all Streets in this defined Area. Note that you cant download too big files.So smaller cities will work great, bigger ons as San Francisco or LA not. There is also no full coverage of the world, because the project just starts, you can help them so that you can get your streets of your Area.

In The Download Section you can search for pre-made Files. And You also can request Citys be emailing me, but im busy, so i could take some time. I Will Upload them. If you have made some files, and want to share them, pls mail them me or upload them on speedyshare.

IMPORTANT:

I just arrived home and saw a mess of new CityRequests. I really like to work on them, but they are just too much. I just didnt expected this. So This what i try to do or better to say what i want you to do:

Pls Try to Create the files on your own. Its really not hard. Just downloading a file with nice UI and then click on a Batchfile... And then you could upload your File to an Filehoster so that i can host for the others. 

How To Create Them:

Visit OpenStreetMap.org and go to your Area. and klick the Export Tab on the Top and go to manually select different area and border your area.

You neend't to make the area to big, there is a limitation. If its small enuogh you can then export is as OpenStreetMap XML Data. Another Time, you wont get any Data, if you cross the limit.

You will get an file named map.osm

Now you will have to download MapsOfflineUtills in the download section:

Place map.osm in the folder, and start the script WINDOWS.bat or MAc.sh . It now extraits the streets via XLST and give you the needed Bookmarks.plist. IT can take some time, dependig how big your file is.

Then you just have to copy that File to Street Directory and you are finished.

If you get Problems then dont hesitate to ask me. Mostly you will get no File because your City is too big. I Will Manage it then.

Note That is at the moment just Windows-Only, without Mac, its hard to develop for it. Basicly its just XSLT, so if a Mac User who knows such things would be so nice and help me?

UPDATE:

I switched to Sax-Java, so its now Platform independent, i made batch files for Windows and Mac, Linux should be used easily. No mac whines, no dll probles i hope.
